Hey guys, this is my first post on hotrodders, so I'm pretty new to this. But I'm currently building a chevy 383 stroker for my 71 cutlass, which has a olds 350 rocket in it. I haven't taken the engine out yet ...The firing order you have is right, the rotation is counter clockwise. The rotor can be anywhere as long as you follow the firing order.I would start by double checking your wires on the cap are going to the correct cylinders following the firing order. If you have swapped a couple it could still run and depending which cylinders are affected could result in the backfiring issue. Basically confirm your firing order of 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
